Soniq
Whether it’s Norwegian improvisers, Italian dance peformers, Moroccan Gnawa singers, New York avantgardists, Iranian string virtuosos or Ukrainian multi-instrumentalists: the SONIQ Collective invites artists from across the world to take part in fascinating projects.
SONIQ was founded in 2016 by the German-Indian composer and pianist Jarry Singla, the German saxophonist and composer Christina Fuchs and the South Indian percussionist Ramesh Shotham. The exploration of different musical cultures is the common denominator of all projects. All members and guests of the collective are convinced that something new will emerge when artistic work constantly receives new impulses through international and interdisciplinary networking. In addition to the musical content, SONIQ also aims to promote understanding and exchange between people from different cultural backgrounds.
Many of the titles of the SONIQ projects speak for themselves: Eurasian Encounters, Latinamerica, Oriental Strings, Dance, Voices, Africa, Percussion, New Folksongs, String Theory and Literature & Spoken Word.
Videos and further information about these projects are available on soniq-music.com
